About VKT • Englewood, NJ • Serving families since 1973
A community dream—built to support working families.
Vincente K. Tibbs believed Englewood families deserved high-quality child care they could trust. We carry that mission forward with warm routines, caring relationships, and a learning environment where children feel safe, capable, and seen.

Our story
Vincente K. Tibbs helped lead the call for community child care in Englewood and urged the city to pursue federal support. Although Mr. Tibbs passed before the center opened, the City of Englewood and concerned citizens made his dream real.
We first opened in September 1973 at Galilee Methodist Church (325 Genesee Avenue). In September 1974, we moved into our permanent home at 183 William Street—across from McKay Park tennis courts—where we continue to serve families today.
What we’re here to do
Our purpose has stayed the same from the beginning: provide quality care for children whose parents are working or attending school—so families can move forward with confidence.
- Warm, caring environment
- Stimulating activities that support individual growth
- Respect for every child and family
- Supportive communication with parents
